SWIM LESSONS, BABY BUBBLES & SWIM TEAM
SWIM CLASSES ARE ALL FULL EXCEPT SOME INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED. THIS INCLUDES BABY BUBBLES AND ADULT LESSONS
You must preregister with the Metroparks before registering for the actual classes.
1. You may only register your child for one session
2. Adults may register for up to six classes.
3. You may register for as many Saturday classes as you can attend
4. You may register for as many Baby Bubbles as you can attend
You can help this process by looking at the information below before you come. Look at the swim levels, dates and times. We do not have lessons in the afternoon or evening for kids.
Please choose the most accurate class for your child. We try to keep the classes with a low teacher swimmer ratio for safety reasons and for the best instruction possible.
We attempt to limit the size of the classes for quality and safety purposes.
Swim Sessions contain Toddler, Beginner, Beginners II, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. Each class is 45 minutes long and there are eight classes. Classes are held Monday-Thursday with Friday held as a make-up day if we have a weather or pool issue. We do not make up if it is the swimmer’s absence.
DESCRIPTION OF LEVELS:
Toddler: This class is an introduction to water exploration for young swimmers. It is not meant for babies. Toddlers will work on getting in and out of the pool independently. They will work on bubble blowing, supported kicking and floating. Toddlers who are not potty-trained need to have swim diapers on with a suit covering. Only registered swimmers in the water. This class is only offered during the 10:15am and 11:05 am classes. Parents can get into the water with their toddler. Please do not bring other children into the class.
Beginner: Swimmers are comfortable in the water and comfortable getting face wet but are not yet swimming. Swimmers need to be able to follow instruction and wait for the instructor. Parents do not get in the water.
Beginner II: (Formally called Advanced Beginner) Swimmer is comfortable in the water. Swimmer can float on their front and their back.
Intermediate: Swimmer can swim the front crawl, float on their front and back. Swimmer needs to be comfortable in water over their head.
Advanced: Swimmer should be comfortable in the deep end, swim front and back crawl. Diving and stroke techniques will be improved.
Swim lesson times are 9:30am-10:15am, 10:15am-11am and 11:05am-11:50am
Session 1. June 10- June 21st
Session 2. June 24-July 5 No lessons of the 4th of July We will plan to have classes on Monday-Friday the first week to make up for the 4th.
Session 3 July 8- July 19
Session 4 July 29-August 9
Saturday Swim Lessons are for Beginner and Beginner II only. Swimmer is comfortable in the water. (See descriptions above) Saturday lessons are on
June 1, 8, 15 from 10am-11am or 11am-12pm.
July 20 11am-12pm only.
July 27th and August 3 10am-11am or 11am-12pm
Adult lessons are held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:15-6pm. Adult lessons will start on June 10 and run through August 7th. Register ahead of time at the pool so we make sure the instructor is there and we have enough room in the class.
Baby Bubbles A "parent and me" class. Class is designed for a parent and the child aged 0-2years. Parent must get in with the child. Child must have a swim diaper and covering over the diaper. This is not a learn to swim class. We will help you interact in the water with your child through songs and games. 11:00-11:45am on July 7th, 14, 21, 28
You must register ahead of time for classes to ensure you are in the correct class and that there is room.
We will continue to work with the Ypsilanti Otters Swim Club for swimmers who are past our advance classes. Information will be forthcoming from the Club.
